An album for you...

Hello! First of all, thank you for all the lovely comments in my previous post.

I have not been blogging for quite long and been busy with my aprons and plus I was not too well in the early of the week but totally fine on Wednesday because of Dusty Attic (typical scrapbooker!).

One of the reason I don't scrap because my mojo have gone somewhere for vacation (I think). I am trying very hard to finish those 3 aprons and due to a lot of hand stitching done (as I did applique for the aprons) I got severe headache on Sunday, Monday & Tuesday. The pain was so great, I cried, vomited and was on bed rest on those days.

However, while working with the aprons - I managed to sew an album for a friend which I have not seen for many months. I really hope she will like it, this album is super easy to make...ding dong ding dong....and it is done! I have yet to put some ruffles/yarns at the side of the album - just some ribbons. I will put a bit of "make-up" before this album gone to the new owner next week.
Just the front image for your viewing pleasure, the rest of the pages let the new owner decide - whether to share or not to share in her blog. ;)

If I have the time, I will be creating and ATCs over the weekend and may be a layout.

If you have been following my blog long enough...some of you might know that I love to read. Another obsession of mine is buying books, I would love to share and suggest to some of you to get this book title "The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch". I bought it last year and I have read it again and again as it is totally inspiring and sometimes I found myself in tears while reading it. Same goes to the previous book that I have read about Princess Masako, Prisoner of the Chrysanthemum Throne.

A little note, thanks to the man of the house for the new book, I have read it halfway "Doctor in the House" ;)

Have a great weekend and thanks for popping by.

This is one of it and this one will find her new home soon...to my friend...I hope you will like it!

I put used Kodak's film at the side of the album

Thank you for all your comments in my previous entry and have a bless Thursday.

Fabric mini albums for a swap

I did 4 minis altogether: 3 for my swap buddies and 1 for me to keep

I stamped my name on a piece of paper and slide it next to the flower

the back of the albums

I did these fabric mini albums for my swap buddies and I am so glad that everyone are happy.

I used all my imported fabrics for these albums, mainly all cotton fabrics and for the side of the albums: I used the brown jute and tied it all up around the wooden spools and attached them to the albums with some yarn, ribbons, blue beads and gold beads.

At the back page, I glued and sewed the red beads to give some sparkle. For all the pages it is consist of handmade pins, flowers, some laces if I am not mistaken and it also have canvas pages which is sewn to the fabrics.

I am looking forward for more more swap to come.

Fabric Album Class with Rosa

PLEASE NOTE IN THIS ENTRY, I AM EXPRESSING MY THOUGHT ON THE FABRIC/MATERIAL BUT NOT ON ROSA. TUTORIAL, TIPS, IDEAS AND ROSA ITSELF WAS GREAT, PLEASE DON'T GET ME WRONG.

yours truly with Professor Liza Norman, Rosa and Elaine

yours truly with hot mama - Mariam (the pronunciation - remember!!!)

yours truly with Elaine and Professor Liza Norman

finally, yours truly with Rosa

It was a fun Saturday for me with all the ladies/fellow scrappers. The class was full of laughter, jokes, talking and a lot of stories was shared - not forgetting we shared ideas too. After our class we head for a group lunch, some of us have to leave early so it was seven of us having lunch together after which we shopped too (it is a therapy) remember!

I enjoyed the class so much, fun class, fun scrappers, fun teacher, we as a student on the other hand "always have something" to object, asked or talked while Rosa was teaching. Rosa was patient with all of us as she keeps on saying..."listen girls, I am not going to repeat this again".

All of us brought our own slice machine, our own slice magnetic mat, tools and etc. As this time our fabric album will be embellished with a fabric embellishments, hence it is totally 100% fabric.
The only thing I was not satisfied is the fabric given, it was not a kind of fabric that we all thought we will be getting and this fabric album definitely will not stands up among the rest of the albums I have in my collections. If we was given a 100% cotton fabric, like the one I have (please refer to my previous entries on my fabric album and 100% cotton fabrics) we will not be making so much of noise in the class. For the amount we paid, I think we deserved to get an imported 100% cotton fabric OK! To my readers (banyak ke?) my apologies if my writing above is so vocal to any of you, I am just expressing my thought.

The teacher/Rosa was great but the material given was not! I want to elaborate further but lets drop this topic and as a lesson to myself - I will be more careful in the future when choosing my class.

However, when I arrived home on Saturday I straight away head to my little studio and I am done with the fabric album. Thanks to Rosa for the tutorial given.

I managed to snap few photos with the ladies but not all, Kak Ame, Kak Fadhilah I missed you this time! I would like to share with all of you, Rosa's fabric album, below are the pictures.

*my apologies for the photo quality, I used my old camera.

Have a great week ahead and happy scrapping!

Scrap-It-Lah, July 2010 Altered Challenge

Over at Scrap-It-Lah, their July challenge is to create an altered art. I have been working on this since last week. I did a couple of altered arts at home but end up to this fabric and felt album. I did this from scratch and I used cotton fabrics and felt cloths. It took me 3 hours to finish this album (I hope I am a pro so that it wont take me that long). Of course with the help of my Singer 7465 sewing machine, from the beginning until the end I make used of my Singer machine for this fabric and felt album. It was an inspiration from a dear friend Elizabeth (thanks to her), she is the inventor for Dear Lizzy, 52 more scrapbooking challenges and one of the many creative person that I came across.

Most of my cotton fabrics I've got came from Catberry and Mice by Debra Mason, Paradise Pareaus, Tradewind Tropicals, The Chef's Choice and many more by Robert Kaufman, Andover Fabrics, Jane Townswick and to name a few. Not forgetting in this cyber world with just one click of a button you could see a variety of cotton fabrics that you could choose from, or better still search for any old cotton fabrics at home, easier! Back to my diy: fabric and felt album, I used the nett cloth, a lot of buttons for embellishments, did my own flower, I used small white plastic pearl like chain and a blue beaded chain as an embellishments. This album is about 4" x 4.5 " and it is pretty small, my sister said it is look like a colourful purse. I placed all the photos randomly and in small sizes and I am happy with the result, presenting my 1st fabric and felt album:

I am sorry for the many photos, it is just that I am so excited to share this album with you. Thanks for dropping by!
